Full KiCad project source so you can modify the design yourself.
Component sourcing
+$15 flat
Mouser/DigiKey BOM with linked part numbers, live stock availability, and active lifecycle checks — so you never order a board only to find a key IC is End-of-Life.
We don't procure or ship physical components, but we offer a Component Sourcing add-on (+$15) that delivers a Mouser/DigiKey BOM with linked part numbers and live stock availability — so you can order with one click.
Anywhere on the spectrum is fine. If you have a block diagram, rough sketch, or just a description of what the board needs to do, we'll turn it into a KiCad schematic before layout begins. You sign off on the schematic PDF before any routing happens, so nothing moves forward until you're satisfied.
All deliverables are DRC-verified against JLCPCB and PCBWay design rules before delivery. If a fab flags an error caused by our layout (not a spec change on your end), we fix it at no charge.
Yes. Layouts follow IPC-2221 for general PCB design and IPC-7351 for surface-mount land pattern standards. Impedance-controlled designs use IPC-2141 as a reference.
One revision round = one consolidated batch of feedback addressed in a single updated deliverable. Scatter your notes into multiple messages and they still count as one round. Extra rounds beyond your tier's allowance are billed at $35/hr in 30-minute increments.
Yes — add the Source File Handoff (+$30) to any tier and you receive the full KiCad project (.kicad_pro, .kicad_sch, .kicad_pcb) with full ownership, so you can modify or hand it off freely.

TraceWorks — PCB Design Service Agreement

Version 1.0  ·  Effective [DATE]  ·  Nashua, NH

1. Parties

This Service Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into between TraceWorks ("Designer"), an independent PCB design service operated by [YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME], located in Nashua, New Hampshire, and the individual or entity submitting a project inquiry ("Client").

2. Scope of services

The Designer agrees to provide custom printed circuit board (PCB) design services as described in the project quote accepted by the Client. Services may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Electrical schematic capture and review
  2. PCB layout and routing
  3. Design Rule Check (DRC) verification against specified fabrication tolerances
  4. Generation of Gerber files, Excellon drill files, Bill of Materials (BOM), and pick-and-place CSV
  5. Rendering of a 3D board preview for client review
  6. Additional services as specified in the accepted quote (fab coordination, source file handoff, component sourcing, express turnaround)

Services do NOT include physical PCB fabrication, component procurement, assembly, or testing unless explicitly stated in the quote.

3. Project quotes & acceptance

The Designer will issue a written quote within 24 hours of receiving a completed intake form. Quotes are valid for 7 calendar days. A project is considered accepted when the Client pays the required deposit (Section 4). The Designer reserves the right to decline any project without explanation.

Quotes are fixed-price. The amount stated in the accepted quote will not increase unless the Client requests scope changes after work has begun (see Section 7).

4. Payment terms

Deposit: 50% of the total quoted fee is due before design work begins. Work will not commence until the deposit is received.

Final payment: The remaining 50% is due upon the Designer's notification that the final deliverables are ready. Gerber files and all other deliverables will be released only after full payment is confirmed.

Method: Payments are accepted via Stripe (credit/debit card) or other methods agreed upon in writing. All prices are in USD.

Late payment: If final payment is not received within 7 days of notification, the Designer reserves the right to archive the project files and require a restart fee equal to 25% of the original quote to resume.

5. Revisions

Each tier includes a defined number of revision rounds:

  1. Starter: 1 revision round
  2. Pro: 2 revision rounds
  3. Complex: 3 revision rounds

A "revision round" means one consolidated set of feedback from the Client, addressed in one updated deliverable. Feedback must be submitted as a single document or message — multiple scattered messages do not constitute separate revision rounds. Additional revision rounds beyond the included allowance are available at $35/hour, billed in 30-minute increments.

6. Intellectual property & ownership

Client ownership: Upon receipt of full payment, the Client receives full ownership of the final deliverables (Gerber files, drill files, BOM, pick-and-place CSV, schematic PDF, and 3D renders). The Client may use these files without restriction — fabricate, modify, sell, or distribute as they see fit.

Source files: KiCad project source files (.kicad_pro, .kicad_sch, .kicad_pcb) are NOT included by default. Source file handoff is available as a paid add-on (see pricing). Upon payment of the source file add-on, the Client receives full ownership of the source files as well.

Designer portfolio rights: The Designer retains the right to display anonymised renders or screenshots of completed boards in a professional portfolio, unless the Client requests confidentiality in writing before project commencement.

Client-provided materials: The Client warrants that any schematics, reference designs, or other materials submitted to the Designer are either their own original work or properly licensed for use. The Designer bears no liability for designs that incorporate third-party IP without authorisation.

7. Scope changes

Changes to the agreed project scope after work has begun — including adding components, changing layer count, altering board dimensions, or requesting additional deliverables — may result in a revised quote. The Designer will notify the Client of any cost impact before proceeding. The Client must approve scope changes in writing before additional work is performed.

8. Turnaround & deadlines

Turnaround times stated in quotes are estimates in business days from the date the deposit is received and all necessary project files are provided by the Client. The Designer will make reasonable efforts to meet agreed deadlines. Delays caused by the Client — including late schematic delivery, slow review turnaround, or delayed feedback — extend the delivery date accordingly and are not the Designer's responsibility.

Express turnaround (48-hour delivery) is available as a paid add-on and requires a clear, complete specification at project start. If insufficient information is provided for express completion, the Designer will notify the Client and revert to standard turnaround.

9. Revisions after delivery

Once final files have been delivered, the project is considered complete. Requests for post-delivery changes are treated as new revision requests and billed at the hourly rate ($35/hr), regardless of remaining included revisions.

10. Limitations of liability & disclaimer

The Designer provides PCB layout services based on the information and specifications supplied by the Client. The Designer does not warrant that the designed board will meet performance specifications, regulatory certifications, or be free from errors in the underlying schematic.

The Designer's liability is limited to a refund of fees paid, at the Designer's sole discretion. The Designer is not liable for costs arising from fabrication, assembly, component procurement, regulatory non-compliance, or any consequential damages resulting from use of the delivered files.

The Client is solely responsible for verifying that the final design is correct before ordering fabrication.

11. Confidentiality

The Designer agrees to keep all Client project details, schematics, and technical information confidential and will not disclose them to third parties without written consent, except as required by law. This obligation survives termination of this Agreement.

12. Cancellation & refunds

Cancellation before work begins: Full deposit refund.

Cancellation after schematic review but before layout: 50% of deposit refunded.

Cancellation after layout has begun: No refund of deposit. Client receives any in-progress files at their current state.

The Designer reserves the right to cancel a project at any time for any reason, with a full refund of all fees paid.

13. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.

14. Entire agreement

This Agreement, together with the accepted project quote, constitutes the entire agreement between the parties. It supersedes all prior communications regarding the project. Amendments must be agreed upon in writing by both parties.
